With over 38 years of tuning and technical experience, I offer a range of services, from tuning and repair to major rebuilds. I was a concert tuner at the RSAMD Glasgow for 14 years and continue to tune pianos in domestic houses, schools, recording studios, dance studios, concert halls and for professional recording artists.
In 1984 after sitting and passing their entrance exam I became a member of the Pianoforte’ Tuners Association (PTA).
The PTA is the professional body for piano tuners in the United Kingdom. The entrance examination is recognised throughout the piano trade both here in the UK, USA and Europe. I held the office of President of the PTA from 1994-1999 and was awarded Honorary Life Membership in 2010.
I trained for three years at Thomson’s Piano Workshop in Glasgow and have attended Stevenson College Edinburgh.
Today I chair the PTA’s Membership Test Sub-Committee and have been a PTA test examiner since 1991.
Through continual professional development, I attend technical classes with leading piano manufacturers including Bösendorfer, Kawai, Steingraeber & Söhne, Steinway and Yamaha. I have visited most of the major piano factories across Europe, Japan and the USA.
I am registered with The PVG Disclosure Scheme in Scotland.
